 “La Boutique Fantasque” (the magic toy shop) headlines Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo’s holiday performances December 16-18 in The Black Box at Dance Obispo. A BT-SLO premiere, “La Boutique” is the sweet story of a toymaker’s wonderful creations. The dolls have a secret life apart from the daily shopping customers, and two harlequin dolls have even fallen in love. When they are purchased separately, all the toys rally to stop the separation. “La Boutique”, set to the beautiful score by Ottorino Respighi based on piano pieces Gioachino Rossini, is choreographed by Melissa Barnett and features a cast of 35 dancers. Costume design is by Nancy Hopkins, and set design by John Slobodnik.

BT-SLO Artistic Director Theresa Slobodnik will present her “Winter Concerto” set to Antonio Vivaldi’s famous concerto, and “A Winter Wonderland” reflecting scenes of the season. 

The intimate theatrical setting and duration of the program is family friendly. Theresa Slobodnik recommends purchasing tickets early as seating is limited.
